I did a 30 mile trip in my tuscan this morning. A mixture of B roads at reasonable speeds and a stretch of fast dual carraigeway, a few stretches through villages at 30 mph. Outside air temp was 5 degrees C.

The water temp did not get above 78 and was mostly at 76, is this too low? Oil temp got to 70.

When I stopped and let the car idle the temp went to 90 degrees and the first fan came on then went off when the temp went back to 90, I couldnt get it hot enough for both fans.

There was plenty of heat from the heating.

The car is a 2000 mk1 4.0 with a rebuild 1000 miles ago. It has a new alloy rad.

Is a temp of 75 a bit cool? When the car was rolling the temp was never over 80 and never below 72. It did rise reasonabl;y quickly when stationary. Coolant levels were checked and topped up before the run.

Car pulled well, sounded normal (although I am new to Tuscans. I didn't cane it, max rpm today probably about 4500

Do the speed 6 experts here think its ok or is the temp a problem?

Cheers

I wouldn't be worried about the temps being low on the move at this time of the year. As they went up whilst sitting still and the fan cut in when it should have, seems fine to me. I would be more worried about not taking the rpm above 4500. biglaugh

Agree with macey...your not trying hard enough!!!
Temps sound fine to me, my water regularly runs at that temp, sometimes stuggle to keep heat in the oil if motorway driving...top tip, tuck in behind something big for a while, temp will come up thumbupbiggrin

I am not supposed to push the RPM as its still running in. I am trying to be good (don't always succeed) smile

Perfectly normal in these temps. Wait till it's freezing outside and you're cruising on the motorway. Water temp will stay around 70 and oil temp will stay around 50. You can still hoon it though as the oil and engine are fully warmed through and stable (which is the important bit), just at an overall slightly lower temperature. smile
