Can't really see on the iPhone, but what does this cover do that the standard one doesn't?

I would assume it removes the need to have to silicon the cover in place to keep the water out,but I may well be wrong.

i was caught by a huge rainstorm Saturday and just drove through it without any problems (engine wise that is :-)) so what is the added value of another cam cover ?

Graaf, the advantage would be that you can just remove and refit it without having to run sealant around every time.

Well Done RM75 & Graaf no one said about doing any thing weekly.

Just put your self in the shoes of the guy doing the servicing cutting the sealant away time and time again and aiagn it would piss me off no end. and how many times has some guy cut him self doing it???.

no need for new camcover just use this new rubber so the top cover can clamp down onto the rubber.
as for water getting in none has got in as of yet??

but if any thing go's bad or wrong i will let you guys know ASP...

Tonymg I would take one of them if you are selling them , although your camcover is different from mine as I have the 2 lugs on the cover which point towards the throttle bodys. Have you adjusted your camcover design?.

Hi Tony,

I fully understand your need and benefit of having a reusable spark plug cover in place of the messy black sealant used. My car had one fitted, but got thrown away by the garage servicing my car resently and I have been looking for a replacement since.

I am currently using a neoprene rubber self adhesive tape that cost me £4 to seal the cover, which appears to work and is resistant to heat, oil and water.

Are you looking to offer this to other SP6 owners and servicing outlets, if so I would suggest the gasket needs to seal the lugs, as the majority of owners still have this and the 3 spark plug cover bolts also require the gasket to seal and protect the plugs from any water ingress.

I also noticed you have modified the inside edge of the cam cover where the spark cover sits, because your gasket wouldn't have anything to rest on, so you would need to consider existing owners that haven't modified this.

Are you thinking of having this produced and what would the cost be?

Tonymg what rubber did you use to make this?

My cam cover is being powder coated at the moment.I've got a rubber replacement for the cam cover and wanted to make something similar to yours to refit the spark plug cover.I don't want to go back down the sealant route.

I have a batch of oil and grease resistant rubber on its way to me. It should also be able to cope with the heat. Once it arrives I will get one made up and begin testing it. If it works I will be doing a small run of 10 gaskets. Will keep you all updated.
