Yesterday a tatty speed six engine (complete!) was sold on Ebay for 561,- GBP. Cheap to me I think.
Salvage companies are asking between 1500 and 2500 GBP for a engine (same condition?)
Are prices of speed six engine dropping?

Is that the one that was listed as suffering top end rattle?

yes, even with "top end rattle" it is cheap. Alot of parts can be used afterwards.

I guess it depends!! If the rattle meant it has popped a shim the block could be fubar'd, crank could need regrind, complete bearing set, rods could have picked up and need honing, will need new little bearings anyway, new set of rings, pistons may be ok i guess hehe

Then top end, valves, valve seats, stems seals, head gasket, cams, followers etc etc etc!

The cost of rebuilding could be the same as a new engine from say TVR Power...so it may not be that cheap really!

I did wonder whether they knew full well what it needed, hence letting it go for that price. If it was a quick top end rebuild, surely worth the investment doing the work and selling as a warrantied fresh unit?

Hello Group.. first post.
Am I alone in seeing, and bidding on,supposedly, one of the original engines from the 2003 Le Mans Tuscans recently posted on Ebay ?
Complete with injection and ancillaries, unfortunately the seller pulled the listing early.
I may be wrong but I think the engine was located in the Leicester area .. as was the one discussed above.
