Tappet Noise Question

Looking to purchase a Tamora 3.6 and the one I looked at which is a lovely car sounds very tappety to me even when warm. The car in question has just had a sevice from a TVR dealer and the valve clearances were within tolerance and the car was given a clear bill of health. My question is do they all sound like this?

Go and listen to a few to get a feel for what good ones should sound like. They are a course sounding engine but you can still tell good v's bad by ear. It's hard to diagnose without physically listenin to it so maybe try and get someone in the know to go listen. When in fine fettle their isn't a better sounding engine IMHO!
