Hello all,

I had a problem with the fuel pump (which turned up during the three nations meet in Switzerland):

When the engine is hot, the fuel pump doesn't stop priming after turning the ignition on. This results in a flooded engine - once even some fuel must have left the injectors; had some white smoke coming from under the hood. Consequently I cannot start the engine except when turning the key very quickly (not waiting for the fuel pump to finish - it wouldn't do it anyway).

Is there some sensor or solenoid that I can check?

Thanks,

Konrad

Hi Konrad, we could have talked in Switzerland ;-) I was facing the same issue at hot engine temps recently (except for the white smoke). Sometimes it worked OK again when turning the key back to Zero and repeating the starting procedure, sometimes I had to wait a minute or two.
Any ideas/experience guys?

Aah - and it sounded a bit weaker and struggling. Actually as if there were air bubbles involved. Could it be that the petrol between tank and fuelpump starts boiling/building bubbles when the exhaust is heating it up?

Hi Jo,

thanks and that's true - but you left early... Actually it's Markus' T350 (the crystal topaz one) - the same lad who's having the problems with opening the boot on the Tuscan.

Cheers
