Posting in here also on GAZZAB's recommendation.

Right all, I have an occasional MIL, for which I'm curious to see if any of you have had, or know possible solutions/ideas to.

So, fyi I have a 2001 Cerb Sp6. I love her. Yes I do. Now I will describe the MIL to you, in terms of the sequence of events. Please note I have had this phantom fault looked at and apparently when MIL occurs in garage, there isn't a code indicating a specific issue, hence the phantom nature of said MIL. And the excellent Mark of MF TVR over here doesn't know what it is and quite frankly I have less of a clue than the nearest discarded crisp packet anyway.

So then, to the phantom. I drive my car daily, mix of traffic/motorway. She gets warm in traffic and around 96 the fan kicks in. Cools down to 90, fan off, no problem, no phantom MIL. She will do this once more, only the once more, no MIL. The third time however, temp creeps up to 96, fan kicks in HOWEVER this time, MIL attempts to come on, it flickers it's ugly existence, coming off and on and off and on tormenting me until it finally makes it's mind up and comes on constantly. Car will warm up to 96, cool down etc. no problem, however MIL will remain. That is unless I rev her to 2-3000rpm, when said MIL will very briefly disappear, before returning when revs drop. The other thing is, she will idle at the expected ~8-900rpm in traffic for about 5-10mins after the MIL comes on, however if I'm stuck in traffic any longer, the revs start dropping and quite frankly she starts to feel like she's going to shake herself apart. Gearstick vibrations increase significantly, along with steering wheel however start moving again and no issue.

Further to this, if say I have cleared traffic when this has occurred and am back on motorway, after 5-10 mins of bombing along, the MIL goes off. Also, when I park her up and return next morning, no MIL. I'm paranoid anyway so water and oil levels are usually a canine with acne.

Any ideas?

Any other questions? Please note that while I may own a TVR, I'm not a petrol-head by any stretch nor would I ever dare say so. I am an veritable car-idiot certainly in comparison with the vast majority of yourselves and your input/ideas would certainly be welcome. Apologies for the long-windedness.
