Hi all, just thought i would let you know how i got the front pulley off of my speed six engine still in my tamora, after scratching my head and being warned by various dealers its not worth it i ploughed on, in the end all i did was cut out a disc about 5-6mm thick, cut 3 holes out in it that line up with the 3 threaded holes in the pulley, bolt it up to the pulley bolt with 3 bolts and unwind the pulley bolt thus removing pulley. i had to jack engine and lower it to get bolts out etc but after making the disc it took me roughly 45 mins to get it off. dead chuffed

Well done sounds like a simple and clever alternative to a puller.
Read your description three times and still can't quite picture what you've made and how you done itscratchchin
So for simpletons like myself a picture or diagram of your effort would be appreciated thumbup

Basically all it is, is a disc, 5ish mm thick with 3 holes in it that line up with the 3 holes in the pulley. with the crank pulley loose but still in place i bolted the disc up against the bolt in the crank pulley with the the 3 bolts then undid the main crank bolt so it pushed against the disc pulling of the pulley. easy

Good thinking, did it ever feel like the threads on the crank or crank bolt were going to strip when un-doing the bolt, before it pulled the front pully off? You said you had to jack the engine up to get the bolts clear, did you have to undo anything on the car to get the clearance required? Thanks

i measured the bottom pulley bolt first then put it back in to undo the pulley, then as it got near the end of thread i did it back up and pushed a small spacer in, i had to undo the exhaust clamps and the driver side engine mount plus one of the passenger side engine mount bolts so the engine hinged down to clear the bottom pulley bolt on chassis

Hi, I was wondering if you would be willing to lend / hire out your plate and bolts?
I've got a Tamora with a squealing A/C belt. Adjusting it has reduced the noise but not eliminated it. I have a new belt but it would appear that the bottom pulley has to come off to fit it! I've read some horror stories of broken pullers, engines out and chassis cutting to get these pulleys off so your idea looks to be the perfect solution. Would you be interested in helping out?
Cheers
Davie

Thanks for the advice Nick, managed to get the aircon pulley off and the belt changed.
