I've just put the cats back in my Tuscan for the MOT and have decided that I prefer the sound of the engine with cats and CCC's. Decats and CCC's is just too raspy!

My query is, when I put the standard chip back in, do I need to remap or will it reset itself?

What effect would leaving the decat chip in have on the engine? My apologies if that sounds a stupid question but I'm a bit of a mechanical numpty.

Maybe best to give Dom at TVR Power a ring.

I THINK it changes the idle mixture to allow you get through an MOT with your CATS out and richens the map through higher revs, but how much of this is to correct a poor original map and how much is down to the CATS i don't know.

I guess there is an increased risk of damaging cats?

Thanks, spoke to Dom who advised that the car will be fine with the decat chip with or without cats. thumbup

I did the same thing. Decats was too much. To the point that I'd keep windows closed for tunnels. Windows down was painful to the ears.

Cats in and CCCs was the best it ever sounded. I've now got TVR power's sports cats on and it's louder and harsher than standard cats. Qualitatively not quite as good but fierce as hell. Thought to be worth a good few bhps and actually more torque than fully decatted.
