I was just having a look at the RG parts website (well presented and prices look reasonable). I focused in on this little item...
http://www.thetvrshop.com/TVR/Parts_details/TVR%20...

That looks exactly the same design as the followers Autocraft had made up (based on Mellings drawings). However I note that RG are using a diamond coating on theirs. The Craft followers that were fitted in my engine the cam lobe contact surface wiped away and scored the new cam lobes. I have to say I am not an avid fan of coatings as they also wear away. Don't knwo anything about this diamond coating tho.

You have also miss read! (as i did when i looked into these)

Its not diamond coating, its Diamond "like" coating. fking coal is diamond "like" but i presume they are refering to the hardness.

I believe they are very good.

These followers where originally designed by John Ravenscroft Tvr stopped using these has they all failed whilst testing.

Graham, I had these installed in the very first rebuild of my original engine.

That engine is still going strong after more than two years, and has no noticeable problems with any of the finger followers in there.

Interesting info can I ask how they failed? I mentioned that the pad surface was wiping away on mine, they were also very thin at the neck (just off the rocker rail) and wondered if they would infact eventually fracture at this point.
By the way top work in pulling off the 4.5, I look forward to reading the torque figures, I suspect it will be a big fat curve smile

DLC is a hi-tec surface coating, found in valve train F1 components. Very very good if done properly.

All the ones John tested failed using sinted cams, Auto-craft designed another similar design that looks like the latest RG are offering
