First start after rebuild
Discussion
Just wondering, what would be the right way to pre-oil the engine before first start after an extensive rebuild.
I would assume that you fill the oil tank and then crank the engine without letting it actually fire and the spark plugs out of place for easier cranking until one can see any oil pressure. Would that be the correct way?
Cheers for any comments,
Björn.

I would pop the valve cover off, pour oil over the cams, replace cover then crank the engine with the injector fuses removed till there is oil pressure.
I pressume it was assembled with lube on all shells and journals? if so then fine if not i would be pressurising the oil gallery with a seperate pump prior to any cranking of the engine.

Cheers guys,
engine is running. Only problem is, that the pressure seems to be a bit low, at least on the instrument inside. External gauge that we used showed proper figures. Can it be some air in the capillary? Control lamp stays off.
Nevertheless, engine ist fine, and yes, it was extensively pre-lubed at the vital points.
