Is there only 1 diagnostic cable configuration for the S6 engine that uses the 3 pin connector? I just got mine today (raceproved one) and when connected to the car/laptop (via the serial port) it says 'ECU not connected' I am going to try a serial to USB adaptor tomorrow but is there anything else I am missing? I am running the software on an XP configured laptop from a desktop folder by running the exe.file. the program appears to start as it should but it dose not 'see' the connection to the car.

You have to make sure the port is assigned as COM1 for the software to see it. Should be able to change it from Control Panel>Devices

Thanks Al, should have asked earlier, its too dark to go and have a play now! Does it need a driver installing to make it run as well?

The only driver you'll need is if you're using a USB converter for the diagnostic lead. If you're plugging it staight into your computer you won't need specific drivers.

Hope that makes sense!
