Might have been the toffee ones. Thought you may be interested to know the verdict on my engine Chris, took it to Tvr power and just found out today that a big end bearng shell had spun preventing oil flow etc. The knocking noise was a bigend.. Bad news, needs crank grind and a full rebuild. Good news..err isnt really any. frown Bugger, just have to cancell christmas.

Thats what happened to mine last year, oil pressure was near zero in idle. Fortunately for me it was caught early and only a bottom end was required from power but still a 3.5k bill - though luckily for me picked up under warranty!

Just back from a week in the Alps and Dom@power phoned to say car is ready. Full marks for gettin on withthe job. The knocking noise seemed to come and go but was definately there. Not sure how the bearing shell is able to turn but seems a common fault. Car had plenty of oil pressure, even hot at tickover and no oil usage ! sthappens eh.

A big end will only spin if it seizes - unlikely if you've got oil pressure - or if the fit of the bearing in the conrod was poor. A sign of poor tolerances and shoddy engine building IMHO!

If it was poor from the factory I would have thought it would have happened before now. From what I understand Rtoy was driving normally, with it well warmed up at the time it happened and still with good oil pressure.

Thought you would be interested to know..Collected car from Tvr power yesterday and had a run out today..Engine sounds sweet with none of the old thrashy topend sounds, or bottem end rattles... Running in for a while before i can really try it out tho wink .
