Does anyone know if its ok to use the loctite (221 I think) flange sealant on the exhaust manifold to cylinder head joint? When I stripped mine, there was no gaskets, just what looked like black sealant.Regards,Steve.

from what i hear it is the loctite used.

i however would want to make a gasket, several places can supply gasket sheet and you cut it into the correct shape.

I cant see sealant taking the extreme heat for ever.

Silicone etc is what many folk are using now. I use it on my race car - it seals very well and no protruding gasket where the gases want to be - well, not for long anyway!

hi tvrowner - your right many places using high temp silicone, but i do question its longevity. i reckon it'll might need resealing every few years?
