On newer cars there is two oilplugs, one on the oiltank and one on the engine. On older cars there is no plug on the engine and You have to get the oil out by sucking it out. On the newer cars You will find the engine oilplug on the oilpan just below the powersteering pump (in front on drivers side).
If You have a newer car it is easy to get most of the oil out when changing oil on a older car You have to remove the camcover and suck the oil out by putting a probe down between the cam chains.
You should always get as much of oil out as possible when changing oil, I would not do a oilchange and only change 6 liters of oil when there is 9 liters in the system.
I have the old style of SP6 in my Cerbera and I use to check the valve clearences at the same time as I change the oil so it doesn´t matter that I need to take the camcover off to get all the oil out.
