Ok guys. Technical hats on please.

Ive done a search and read up about both these jobs, but its raised a few Q's which i cant find answers for.

1. Idle speed - basically adjusting the throttle cable adjuster si it brings revs up situated betweend throttle body 3 & 4. Thats easy. Then i have to plug in laptop and reset what exactly? Cant find that bit of info anywhere.

2 Throttle bodies - ive seen people speaking o a synchrometer (http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=MSPORT&pcode=A/A98001.000 ) such as that one. I dont get what that does, it plugs into the throttle port where the airbox would usually join to it?
what value should it show and where is the adjuster?
does 1 adjuster do all 6?
And lasly what then needs setting up on the ECU?

I could pay for this to be done, but i really like the idea of doig it myself and keeping the car fine tuned in between its yearly service.

Thanks for any help.

You could also try (http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p10853/CARBURETTOR-SYNCHROMETER/product_info.html) to get a Synchrometer to measure as you adjust. This you slot into the throttle bodies to get a volume flow rate to help balance the flow rate into each cylinder. (Suggest that you hold throttle down with engine off first and clean inside the throttle pots before you start)

With the car running best to start on the front bank of 3; start on 4 and work forward to balance these three by slackening the nut between 4 & 5 and using an allen key to adjust and then between 5&6.

Then start on 4 to adjust to the value of the front 3, then 5 and finally 6. The adjuster for 4 is on the top of the throttle cable, idle is the one under the fuel rail behind the throttle cable when standing on the O/S. Give the throttle a light blip to check they are all still ok. (Engine should be running smoother at this stage and even better after resetting the adaptives)

(The above syncro meter from Merlin will require to be either cut down slightly to fit into the throttle bodies or buy an extension. (I just cut down) Do not be tempted to blip the throttle on the bodies as the cable could come off the pedal-frown

When they are all balanced connect PC and reset the adaptives so that the two throttle pots know where they are set.

"connect PC and reset the adaptives so that the two throttle pots know where they are set."

Does anyone have a description how to set up a computer(i think its
a dos program) and where to get the correct diagnostic program
for a speed six Tuscan built 7/2000.

I must make a overhaul of throttle pods due to weared
bushed and spotting engine at 6000rpm, i have read this comes from
flattering throttle pods which gave then this to the throttle pods sensors
and then computer cannot identify signal properly.

For any any help thanks in advance

Uwe

you can download the software from www.mytuscan.co.uk but you gotta get the correct lead.

When ordering the lead from TVR power they can probably help you identify what type you need.

A stutter at 6000rpm sounds like your throttle bodies are out of sync, might not be worn bushes.

Get em set up if you cant DIY it, im half tempted to pay to have it done.
