Picked mine up today from the Post Office, I think I got one of the last few Graham had. It is very good from the quick look I have had at it. £1000000 and I might sell it on wink

Engine Idle; This is not a fix for a lack of a service. It is just an interim measure , and is no substitute for a diagnostic reset. If the car has just been serviced it should always idle from cold no problem, but can reduce after 1000 miles. Best thing is get the diagnostics reset between services.

Adjust at centre between 3 & 4 under the fuel rail the lower grub screw of the two is the idle screw with a locknut on it, gently push against the spring to see the increase in idle revs and see the correct one for adjustment. Firstly clean the airbox, pipes and throttle bodies as this can effect cold idle; With engine stopped and cold loosen 8mm locknut and start engine and check idle rpm, set by adjusting grub screw to 750-800 cold, this should be about 850-950rpm when hot, tighten locknut. The idle can become lower between service intervals as the tappets clearance reduces.

I can recommend the manual.

Without it I'd have struggled to do some of the jobs I list here:

meant to add

thanks varleyhyd. dont mean to steal the thread, I do have another one myself regarding this.

I have looked at the idle adjusting screws and i am uncomfortable with adjusting it at the moment as it it looks like each bank can be adjusted independant of each other and I dont want to create a throttle imbalance across the block. Should they be balanced using the laptop to gauge the % movement from the throttle potentiometers and should the tpots be reset on the laptop with the throttle fully closed before setting the idle? so many questions I know, sorry.

The throttle banks want balancing with a syncrometer and then diagnostic resets and idle resets

There is a lot to it for DIY if not done before.

A real good investment would be get it down to Hexham HC and let them set it all up for you.

Echo what graham says regardiong getting a specialist to set her up first time. But, if you are a 'DIY' er then why not ask to watch them do it.

I did, and now i do it myself, you need a laptop, S6 software, data lead, a syncrometer, understanding neighbours and a patient wife...
