Throttle Cable Sheared.
Discussion
Throttle cable snapped over the weekend, recovery man was most reluctant to fix it, instead called a low loader in for the 70 mile trip home, here's a temporary fix i did yesterday.
Remove the pedal box, 3 allen head bolts plus 2 x 13mm locknut's for clutch and gas pedal.
Strip back about 2" of the outer black cable and cut off approx 1" of the frayed inner cable, then screw on a nipple cable end, found one in the garage luckily.
The temporary fix did the trick, and got me safely down to Tvr Barnet who supplied me with a new cable and kindly allowed me to fit it on their premise's, took about 2 hour's to fit the new one including tea break's.

Had my throttle cable go at the pedal end as well on the way back from the Beaulieu TVR meet a few months ago and now carry a spare in the boot. Did you fit the later pedal stops to limit the pedal travel and help prevent a repeat? Mine had already had them fitted by a TVR dealer some years ago by a previous owner but the adjustment was way out. Also moved the pedal box at the same time - great improvement.

Hi Ceri - how are you?
good job on the fix and replace!
Hi Julian, hope you are well! was an exciting trip back on the low loader, saved 15 litres in fuel, cable snapped whilst exiting a car park, worth removing the pedal box and checking cable for frayed strand's, found several old cable end's in the footwell, could have broken at anytime good job on the fix and replace!
Heath-Robinson lash up is in the boot with all the tool's, would be a shame for it to spoil next Euro jaunt

My throttle cable snapped at the pedal end on the way down to Beaulieu TVR meet a few months ago. Must be something in the air.Chad
The AA did a temporary fix, but I did'nt get to beaulieu in the end.
I had a new cable fitted at Dulfords and watched them do it. It looked a very niggly job to do. My pedals were found to be offset from the original position, which may of been the cause of the cable fraying and snapping, so the Guy's at Dulfords repositioned my pedals to stop the cable from rubbing and snapping again.
I had the sides of the metal plate behind the pedals reduced (about 15mm each side) as it took the AA chap a long time to remove the plate as there was hardly any clearance between the plate and footwell.
