Has anybody pictures of a stripped S6 engine? Especially the open timing chain bay is interesting with the cover removed.

Cheers,
Björn

Cheers, exactly what i was looking for.

Apart from the oil pump at the bottom end, is the area sealed from the rest of the engine, or are there any holes going into the engine from here? Especially the area aroung the crank looks a bit like being open.

regards,
Björn.

I think its sealed. Racing Green have the original and simplex chain versions hanging up on lovely displays in the building.

The area round the crank caps is open and there is the open camdeck return hole (top right of photo)in the cylinder head

There is a plate bolted to the back of the sump and the block(just remembered the plate is actually part of the sump and is bolted to the block)..... which seals off the rear crank bearing. The sump could possibly be removed from underneath, but will require the drive shaft, gearbox, clutch assembly and flywheel off. If I recall correctly you will also need to drop the anti-roll bar to get the sump away from the block.

I really would recommend that you contact Graham Varley and purchase a copy of his superb Sagaris manual. I did and I am very impressed with the pics, detail and information. I doubt TVR could have done a better job. It is even more appropriate to your model than it is my Tuscan.

Good luck

Just had a look in my copy of Graham's Sagaris manual (best bit of kit in the garage!!). Biggest problem with taking off the sump is that the Scavenge pump is integral to the sump. So the front cover has to come off to remove the drive chain and/or sprocket, you can see it in the picture a few posts back (bottom left corner as you look at the pic). Which in turn means the crank damper has to come off and these apparently are a complete Bi**h.

Hope this helps
Steve
