I have found that pumps sometimes get noisy shortly before they fail.

What was wrong with the previous pump? Put another way, if the failure was the result of debris in the tank, or a blocked pre-filter, what's to stop the replacement going the same way?

Had this too and wasn't the pump!

Solved by local fuel-injection expert Mike Evans Motorsport; on mine it got loud after running for 40mins or so. It was heated-up fuel on the return line to the pump, which heated it up and made it vibrate a little more making the noise.

Solved completely, mainly by adding plastic coiled tube-protector (think available at Halfords etc?) on the supply and return lines where they run close to the engine, I also insulated the fuel rail using fibre washers. smile

You're welcome. Of course it may still be the pump, but this is a lot easier & cheaper.
