Hi,

My Tuscan 4.0 is still running on the original engine and going well. If needed, can you do the rebuild in advance and can it be done in stages to reduce cost in one hit?

No idea what is incorporate in a rebuild or what has to happen before you have to have one done?

Thanks

Tom

As I understand it (may well be wrong) you can have just a top end rebuild, but you don't usually get a warranty with that as a failure at the top will likely have caused damage to the rest of the engine. A top end rebuild is about £1500 I think.

I don't see a point in "rebuilding" unless there's a problem. I believe an indication can be found during the 12k (2 year) service when the tappets are checked. When I bought my car I was told the tappets had been checked and there was still "plenty of room for adjustment". If your idle revs are below 900 this can be a sign that the tappets need adjusting, although this doesn't neccessarily mean somethings broken (I hope not cos mine idles at 700).

This is what is involved in a full rebuild - doesn't mean much to me but maybe it will to you!
