Picked up my Tamora from RG this afternoon, and I just thought that as it is now a reality I'd post a new thread just to let you know my initial thoughts.

Quite amazing. It feels so smooth, tight and together. It is actually another step up from the version in the T350 demonstrator and feels sort of grown up.

It feels more like a TVR to me than the demo car, but is still quieter and smoother. Bearing in mind it only had about 125 miles on the clock and I'm not taking it over 3k revs,it os just incredibly driveable. It feels like it wants to rip loose, it feels more powerful than the demo car. It's quite a visceral experience; I keep using the word 'feel' because it isn't just about what it sounds like. Obviously.

However, the sound is important. I have the new manifolds, a JR back box and now de-cats. The whole package sounds, again. more grown up. And loads (LOADS) of pops and bangs on overrun.

It has nice low-down grunt in high gears, and is flexible in each gear.

There is a lot more to explore when the engine has more mileage on it, but my first impression is that it is an awesome piece of kit. I honestly was grinning for virtually the whole of the time I was driving it today and actualy enjoyed the fact that I could only use 3k revs.

But I am so looking forward to seeing what it will do at 4k, 5k, 6k revs.

No idea what the power output is but, as I said, it does feel pokier than the demo car. I will take it to Surrey Rolling Road when it's got 3k or 4k on the clock.

Congratulations Lee

Must have felt like waiting for Christmas.......LOL.

Sounds like your very pleased with it. Just need my lottery numbers to come in, and I'll have one too. I went to their open day and coming from an engineering background, I was very impressed with the logic behind the design, the machining and casting quality.

Very Nice

Gald you have it back Lee - I hope its all you expected and more. Much of the low down grunt will come from the 3,6 > 4.0 upgrade. Just remember not to let it do too much low rpm pulling!

I guess today will be a polishing day weather permitting wink

Hi John,

It has actually surpassed my expectations. It is simply so...different.

No polishing or even driving. Packing for skiing holiday tomorrow.

BAD timing frown

Yeah, very special. Glad that someone who knows a bit about the subject is impressed. "I know nothing!".

BTW there is still a market for body parts wink

Lets hope you are the first of many happy customers, only time will tell but RG do have a good rep. May I ask how much it has cost from stat to finish Lee.

The total amount that I actually handed over is not representative as there were some other bits and pieces, and some stuff that I didn't need etc, but when I'm back from skiing I'll work out what the total upgrade has cost.

It is a fair old whack, but I have gone for the manifolds, lightened fly, new clutch etc which were not totally necessary. I seem to remember the invoice saying that the actual rebuild is £7,999 plus VAT and fitting, and the 3.6 - 4.0l £1500 plus VAT.

thanks for that Lee. I guess the rebuild means all new parts top and bottom and the 3.6 to 4.0 includes a stroked crank (Non Billet). Is there any head porting done in the cost. So all in all the new FFF engine without your extras is about £12,000.00 all in.

Enjoy the skiing

That is probably about right.

Head porting is most definitely included, and everything is exactly the same size. So all cylinders have precisely the same capacity. And yeah, the crank has been sorted and nitrided.

Thanks; in the throws of packing now so that I can get out in the car for a couple of hours while the sun is still out!

Good luck with the car.
I posted on the other site as well.
Due to collect mine this week.
I will be driving to Landsend and then to Scotland for the ferry home ,so I hope to put 900 miles on in that trip to aid the running in.
Please keep updating your thoughts on the car , on your return from your skiing.
Have a good holiday.

Hey Davy; Martin said that the next one is under way and due for NI.

Enjoy the journey home! Jealous that you'll get that first 1k miles on so quickly!

Just been out for a little pootle in it, and it seems so much more as if it just wants to go.... You must keep us updated on your progress/thoughts too. Very few of these around at the moment so it will be good to compare notes.

Have they mapped the ECU to your new engine or is it still on the previous ECU chip?

Good luck with it, I bet you will be thinking about it on the slopes!

cheers

You're stretching the boundaries of my knowledge here smile It does have a de-cat chip in, but other than that it is out of the box.

When it's had it's oil change and check up service at about 2.5k it will be taken to the Surrey Rolling Road and I think that then it will be looked at.

Sadly can't afford the OMEC unit frown

Just out of interest as a FFF rebuild changes the layout of the engine rather then rebuids did you (or will you) change your insurance (i.e. has your car been modified = YES)
Sorry for ransacking this thread

Good question.

I'll be calling the insurers tomorrow to check the impact.

Think the "layout of the engine" has more to do with the number of cylinders, not the presence/absence of finger followers?

But in my case, I've also gone from 3.6 to 4.o litres. I'd best give them a call.

Waiting for them to get back to me; they want to know the new BHP, so I've given them a guess based upon RG's demo engine.
