Some of you will remember the many threads I've posted here asking for help with my Speed Six engine problems. It started with a jammed engine, which turnied into a running tappety engine, then a lost shim, then a snapped scavenge pump chain, then a rebuild.

Well, I'm happy to say that today, the final bolt was turned, the engine was started and at last, the Tuscan lives again!

It went first touch of the key and after an inital roughness, it runs much much better than ever before. It's sounds mechanically smoother, ticks over less eratically whilst maintining 700rpm and will start without any throttle input, which it never would before.

I haven't been able to road test yet (I'm in the middle of a full suspension rebuild in my Alfa and it's blocking the barn door) but will do in a week or so. There are no signs of oil or water leaks so fingers crossed, all will be well.

I'll adjust the valve shims once it's ran a little and then she's due a service, well, stamp in the book and then at last I can embrace all that is TVR ownership. I've owned it less than 5 months, it's ran for 1 and i've had it off the the for 4!

I got some powder coating and detailing done whist the engine was in bits. Looks so good I don't want to put the bonnet back on!

All this (scavenge pump replacement) was done with the engine in. I'm glad I went down this route as once complete, it was a lot quicker to get back together.

Thanks to everyone who gave me tips and support.

I've noticed some bit's of chassis that could use a clean/ paint so there is still plenty to keep me busy!

I'll keep you posted.

Cheers,

Richard.
