Bottom end rebuild - running in?
Discussion
Quick question to you all - My 3.6 has just had a bottom end rebuild at Power due to a worn bearing and crank - top end was fine. Will this require the sam sort of running in periond as if it had just had a full rebuild?
I'll be asking the same question at Castle when I pick it up in the next couple of weeks but in case I forget....

Thanks Steve - I think you may well be right and I'll err on the side of caution. Is 1200 the standard period for running in a rebuild and if so I presume 3000 rpm is max until that has been covered? Anything else I need to know/avoid during this time?
Nice car BTW - Lovely colour and the 4.3 seems a fantastic upgrade. The only thing I miss on the 350 coming from a Chim is the low down torque and it sounds like you've gotten it back with yours.

Hi Tony,
Yes that's the right milage. I am keeping mine below 3k for the first few hundred miles and then gradually increaseing it until the end of the period as discussed with Trimar.
The key points are don't put it under load e.g. up a hill on a low gear or try to accelerate in to low a gear.
glad you are enjoying the T. I have never driven a Chim,I had a Tuscan before so I can't comment on the torque but I am pleased with how mine is shaping up.The Tuscan I had was an S and everyone at Trimar thought it was a really good one, this is promising to be as good if not better.
When do you pick yours up?

If it's just had a regrind and shells then the run-in would probably be very short indeed, since the rings and bores won't need bedding in. But you should make sure you ask the people who did the work what the running in instructions are, and be sure to follow them even if you're sure they're wrong.I'll be asking the same question at Castle when I pick it up in the next couple of weeks but in case I forget....
