Hi,
My TVR has been in the garage for 3 months now. It went in as wasnt firing on all cylinders due to leaking valves.
My mechanic (not a tvr speciailist) has replaced all the valves but the engine refuses to start. Can anyone make any suggestions as to why this might be? Its seems to have vexed a load of people so far so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

probably nothing to do with your problem but when my engine was in and out a small wire leading to the coil was broken inside which stopped it from starting. It was a bugger to diagnose as it was intermittent as it was obviously touching now and again.

you never know..

Thanks guys.I believe its sparking and there is fuel etc. Everything seems normal but it simply wont fire - It kind of coughs as if about to fire up but doesn't. I will ask the mechanic for more details and reply. Thanks for the tip about the coil wire I will pass it on!
Cheers!

The cough might suggest valve timing way out if everything else is working? I had this with another S6 once. Did your mechanic set the cams (valve timing) correctly? Not the easiest thing to get right on these engines, as it's not marked on the crank pulley as most engines. You have to work it out from TDC on the pistons.

Otherwise, it's just a case of working through all the systems thoroughly I suspect, perhaps taking to a TVR specialist.

Other than... I've been told by Dulfords that when the battery's been disconnected the engine ecu can get confused and need re-setting (unplugging for a minute). It's a black box above the passenger footwell, normally fastened across a chassis tube.

Did they put the leads back on the coil pack right? it should NOT be as the numbering on the coil, there is 2 that are swapped over.
