Speed six engine ??
Discussion
whats the big problem with the speed six engine ( mk1 tuscan)?
so far im guessing the finger followers are the main issue, they wear out quickly if the engines not warmed up properly and not had regular oil changes and valve lash adjustment?
i also heard the the valve seats can wear out fast
is this correct?
im guessing if ur buying one the only tell tale would be a noisey top end?
how hard is it to get a recon cylinder head or spare engine and what sort of money would i be looking at?
thanks very much chaps

I'm not particularly good with mechanics but there is a spare engine for sale here http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/830360.htm
I have a 2000 tuscan, with worn cams and finger followers that is still running ok, ish. The speed 6 engine at dream machines is a 3.6 and not a 4.0, would there be a significant difference in power between the 2 engines, they have told me it would make 365 Bhp, is that about right?. The engine has been rebuilt by Str8 six and comes with a 12 month warranty, all for £3995. Is this good value? Any help greatly appreciated before I consider taking the plunge.

If the engine has been rebuilt by STR8-SIX then it is one of the best rebuilds you can get (IMHO). However it will still need to be driven with great respect for the cold start and warm up period and regular servicing etc... STR8-SIX rebuilt my supercharged S6 engine and its great. I understand the 3.6 has slightly less torque than the 4.0 ltr but rev's smoother. I doubt you will notice any difference driving the STR8-SIX 3.6 back to back with any other standard 4.0.Hope this helps and good luck.
