I've seen some pictures of your engine with the pre-oiler and it looks amazing.

To answer that question truthfully.... I have absolutely no idea if it is any more or less reliable as I hardly ever get chance to drive the damn thing (I live and work overseas) But so far it seems to be good. In order to try and maintain reliability I fitted an autolube preoiler and have had knock sensors fitted to the engine and wired into the Emerald ECU, this retards the ignition if knock is detected. Then there is an EGT sensor on the rear bank of 3 exhaust collectors if the gas temp goes too high the ECU injects additional fuel which should cool the charge more and run the engine richer. The boost has recently been pulled down a little to 9 psi. This was for 2 reasons, 1) The car was a bit of a hand full when the charger started doing its thing so reducing the boost should hopefully tame the car. 2) Again with the aim of aiding reliability. The heat generated is very high and it really is NOT just a case of beefing up the engine internals to cope with the loads. The coolant system needs a lot of work too. I am not a wealthy person merely comfortable and because I live and work overseas I qualify not normally UK resident and hence UK tax exempt, tho I still have to pay the dreaded VAT of course. Had I known what the costs would end up being I would rather have built an Ultima GTR with a big LS7 and had no worries at all with regards to engine failure. Besides a properly sorted 725BHP LS7 engine can be bought for a mere $27625 USD, sure there are import taxes etc... but it still works out a bargain BHP per £ considered.Seasons greetings to all.

Thanks for info in past, hopefully meet up again sometime. My high-spec 4-litre is now going very well for next season's racing, but will follow your progress. May go with my original supercharged plan in a year or so, as entire transmission & cooling has now been comprehensively uprated, so would be a waste not to! Out of interest, do you know your 80-100mph accel in 3rd? Mine's down from 2.9 to 2.2, with help of a low diff too.

Great news to hear Paul, you have certainly persevered to get where you are and sounds like it has been worth while, that truely is an impressive 80-100. I honestly have no idea of timings with mine as I have not really bothered to quantify such data, just wanted to enjoy driving the car again. It definitely is a lot quicker than before, dropping from 5th to 3rd at 60 and booting it would break traction (I think the LSD helped keep the car on the road). It's for this reason that I asked TurboPacs to drop the boost pressure. I honestly think Pascal is going to find similar if he goes for the full 600BHP. I am going to fit Pirelli Corsa's(Shawn Smith swears by them) when I next get back to UK. The standard Toyo's are good but break tractin too easily. The Pirelli's are a lot softer and wont last as long but I reckon I will only get 3000 miles a year max in the car. I also want to change the brake calipers for somthing more substantial, the AP calipers are struggling to pull the car up as quickly as I would like. I have played with pad material in the past with other HP cars, but always warped disks too quickly. I have been asdvised that bigger calipers will work better and not heat the disks as much as a severe copound pad will...... (have to say, I am not sure the Physics would agree with that but we shall see).Thanks for info in past, hopefully meet up again sometime. Personally I've never had probs with std. brakes once I switched to DS2500 pads (after testing many others, eg. DS3000 just didn't pull car up on the road until thoroughly heated up) even braking hard repeatedly for slow corners on a fast trackday at Spa having fun with 911's and friend's M5. Bigger brakes certainly work less hard on track, then again they won't warm up as quickly on the road, but with right compound can be fair compromise.
Aiming mainly to have fun in the Champ - the car's handling is so enjoyable on the limit now - but if engine continues it's current strong form, who knows.
