Lots of talk about this but has anyone actually had it done? Does it make any noticable difference and how far do you need to go with the coating, up to or past the cats? Does it not cause the rest of the exhaust system to run hotter?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Mine has ceramic headers and decat pipes done by STR8six. The standard cats have not been done as they are only used annually to get the MOT cert. The ceramic coating seems to help reduce the under bonnet heat issue. However unless you are regularly tracking the car or it is supercharged I am not sure if it is a high priority to do item. I needed to fit a heat shield to protect the fibre glass heater matrix box as the gel coat was soon showing signs of crazing (cracking). I suppose if you are keeping your car long term then perhaps for what it costs to get done I would say then it is worth doing. Otherwise ... I would suggest you spend the money on something more worth while to the engine such as an autolube pre lube kit or the likes of....

There are different types of ceramic thermal coating on the market. Ring Camcoat and ask what system they use then ring Zircotec and ask them what system they use. You will then see and understand why there is such a big cost difference between the two. I had it done and the under bonnet temps are considerably lower, cant say I notice better performance though as the engine was rebuilt at the same time as the manifold was coated so I have no reference point.

Just had a look at their website, and in theory it looks good for piston & valves etc (more than manifolds). Not too worried about the claimed 5% power increase but has anyone had any experience of improved engine longevity etc ?
