Diagnostic Software

I have the software setup and the lead connected to a Vista PC USB to COM1 (manual config). Everything connects okay and runs.my problem is that the connection is not stable and keeps dropping out. I think I saw a post about the baud rate for COM1 needed to be changed. Any Ideas before I build XP VMWARE on my Vista Host

4800 is OK but revised to 9600 on mine and seems more stable
