get a stutter at 6000rpm, in 2nd and 3rd a bit like hitting a rev limiter when throttle > 75%.

its fine at low revs under load so ruled out HT leads.

ECU has just been flashed by MBE, so it wasn't that.

any ideas?

mine is booked in to tvr power in a few weeks time to have the same thing sorted which dom is 99.9% sure its throttle pots. apparently the bushings wear in the butterflys and cause wear inside the throttle pots, which, when these bushings wear out effectivly become bearings. You either swap throttle potsevery year when they are worn or rebush the throttles - megga money. im having the pots change and everything set, can let you know how i go on.
For the record it misses / splutters when the first st light comes on at high rpm

Bushing the TB's shouldn't cost much more than around £500 I think. Replacing the complete TB assy with a refurb'd exchange unit from the likes of Dreadnought is about the same price. I think there are other garages that can offer a refurb service though (RG are looking into it, I think Power do it too)

We developed the throttle body for TVR but they never got round to making them with our special bushing. The bushes have to be special or they don't cure the problem. We charge £550 plus VAT on an exchange basis.

Had that exact problem with the Tuscan years ago: problem with the S6 is throttle bodies that weren't bushed at all, so they wear away - think it was at about 18,000 miles or so when I went through this 3/4 years ago. Both SFR in Stockport and Dreadnought in Scotland (from memory) offered uprated, bushed throttle bodies at the time... I think! Seem to remember it being about £300 or so, but I could be wrong.

What age/mileage? I had ENDLESS sessions of throttle set-up trying to get it sorted before we gave in and accepted it needed new bodies. That was on a 2000 MY Tuscan with about 18k on the clock back in 2004/2005 (I think)?

Would definitely try the above first - once it's hooked up to a computer you should be able to see how bad the readings are. One way to find out; get a load of grease/similar you can temporarily fill the extra gap that's been created by the wear with; you'll get a few seconds of good running (and good readings) before it's sucked through, etc. Just be careful not to gunk the engine. wink
