A question I have to ask....I have a 2005 4.0 tuscan engine (not sure what model, has a blue cam cover) in my car, could someone please advise what it is????..... The Sags and Tuscan S models have I do believe a Red cam cover and the standard cars (3.6 or 3.8, whatever they are) have a grey cam cover.

What is the difference in these engines apart from power and capacity? does the red top engine have better internals, therefore more reliable and no need for a rebuild? or is the colour purely down to the power output from each engine? and they will all need a rebuild at some point, obviously depending on how they are treated.

Cheers
Alan

I have just had a 'blue top' 2006 engine from a Tuscan 2 dropped into my Tuscan 1 following my engine going pop and being too damaged to be rebuilt.

I was told that later engines had colour coded cam covers 'blue' being the standard 4 litre giving out about 360bhp and the 'red' being the 'S' variant giving at least 20 bhp more.

The later engines are "supposedly" more reliable as a result of TVR improving the quality of them following lots of failures of the early incarnations of the engine (by using better components).

Not sure what internals are different between the blue and the red though.

Fingers crossed this engine lasts longer than my last!
