Bad news! the half time baring has gone on my 2005 speed six, any ideas on cost of repair chaps?

Jason at STR8Six fitted an uprated version of this component to the engine he rebuilt for me. Don't go for a straight like for like swap, the original is flawed...as well you know now. I'm in Surrey too, but it's only 45mins up the M25/M40 to Lewknor or he has a lowloader to pick cars up to - he's picked mine up from Shepperton before, when I couldn't drop it in. Hope that helps a little,
A.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a 'half time baring'?

I think there's a half-time bearing, sprocket and pinion which form part of the timing chain assembly, although part of me suspects you knew that.

^ Thanks and I didn't know that, I wasn't aware this engine was chain driven. Is there any reason it's called a half time bearing? Does it fail every 45 minutes?

It might be worth your while speaking to Racing Green as they have an alternative light weight chain which I understand should put less stresses through the bearing (when tensioned correctly).

Thw main problem with the bearing is that is barely lubricated, drill a couple of holes here and there to let oil in and out and it lasts a lot longer
