Hello all

just joined so bare with me.
I have just upgraded from a Chim to a 2001 y Tuscan, recently had shim ect done, but
sadly the other day started to tap! didnt sound too bad at first but is getting worse. I
popped off the rocker cover to find 2 finger followers worn with groves !!!
I am happy to drop out the engine but not sure on timing the cams up on reinstall. Does any one have an knowledge on these or know where i can get hold of directions or instrustions? On
a haynes manual typr book !

any help would be most appriciated

I believe there are no timing marks on the engine so best bet is to manually find TDC then stamp marks on your self for the reassemble.

I believe the bottom end is pretty bullet proof so should be ok but I would have a full top end rebuild including valve guides and head gasket.
Might be worth getting some prices to have it done then you know it's right.
Where abouts are you?

i was going to suggest the same thing, i know there are no marks and cams re on verniers. if i were doing mine i think i would be making my own timing marks, and would try taking the head off without taking the engine out. surely this can be done?

To let every one know.

The engine is out, anyone who thinks you can do the finger followers in the car are mad ! it took 30 an hour to get the bottom pulley off and i broke a puller tool!
I went for the hardened finger followers and harder cams from racing green (martin top bloke)
They look the part and are slightly lighter and slimmer.
In the prosses of putting her all back together.

ill up load some pictures when i work out how too ?

Please do, be very interesting to see some pictures - if you can take a few during the work in progress..

Graham Varley might be interested in them for his workshop manual

You need to host them on another web site, if you want when you finished you could e-mail them to me and I will host them.

how have you gone on with engine timing? did you make your own marks? are you going to renew the timing chains? did you pull the engine out of the top, or drop it out of the bottom? pics would be great too!

I made a tool to remove the pulley with the engine in situ. How would I know if I'm mad or not?
