Is this a sign of impending doom... or just bad leads / coil pack or something? The reading on the other side is fine.

Cheers,

Have you connected laptop up to check see if the lamba sensor has gone or if any faults are showing.

Not yet, the cable is on order from CT. I can't actually find the plug for the cable though, looked under the steering wheel and all round the fuse /relay panel... any ideas? There is some sort of multi connector hanging down from the passenger footwell, could that be it? I can't tell without the other part to compare it!

Cheers,

I read somewhere on here that some cars did have the connector installed on the passenger side. Mine was tie wrapped to the steering column. It is a 3 pin socket, the pins are round not spade type.

High HC count on one side, I would suspect the lambda for that bank of cylinders first off, but it could of course be a number of things or combination of. Hooking up to the ECU should give more info so you can more easily isolate the problem.
However the info you can access is limited and I was disapointed to discover that you cannot read the ECU config file or get into the fuel and ignition load site maps.

Thanks guys, certainyly sounds like checking it out with the software will be a good step forward. Lambda sensor is probably a good call, as the plugs for cylinders 1,2 and 3 were all quite sooty, and they feed the exhaust with the high count. That sensor also looks like it may have overheated at some point. This give me hope that it's something affecting all three (like the sensor) rather than a mechanical problem (e.g. burnt valve).

If I can't get the software working I'll try testing the sensors with the multimeter and see what voltages they are showing.

Regarding the cable, there was one plug which was tie wrapped up very near to the ECU, but it looked like it was two pin (or rather two holes for pins, as it had the female side. I might have to get back into the agonising fuse inspection position!

Cheers,

FT.

I am working on a place to put all this info and will put up a link with some modified software with full window sizes, stopping XP log off etc, thanks to 'paul1962' for this

Graham,

Thanks for that. You should get some sort of award for all your documentation! bow

I think I have spotted the 3 pin plug, right down in the footwell a couple of inches from the ECU. Just waiting on delivery of the lead now!

Oh it's all in the manualwink

Check the cable colours are correct as some tuscans and cerbs plug is dead.

If you using usb/serial converter make sure you get the correct driver

Success! (ETA Sorry, not the best photo!)

It was all wrapped up around the steering column. Looks like they changed the wire colours for the Sagaris though...

Cheers,
