Unusual Oil Leak?
Discussion
After returning from a touring holiday, I noticed oil from my Tuscan on the drive when I went to garage it. I dipped the oil tank, and found it empty, with oil sprayed all over the underside of the car. This must have happened during the last leg of my journey, as I check the level frequently. I had the car taken to the indie that now does my servicing and they reported that oil was being forced through the thread of a allen bolt/ plug at the back of the engine behind the starter. It was resealed in, and that appears to have cured the problem, which they'd never encountered before.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Cheers,
Richard

I have an oil issue that I am working on at the moment. Mine is the result of the head gasket failing on the low pressure oil return at the back of the head on the passenger side.
I always thought it was oil coming up through threads or a poor cam cover seal, but I was wrong. You might have the same problem.

The Indie reported "leak traced to allen key blanking plug on rear main oil gallery (remove battery & starter motor for access) remove plug, reseal, reassemble & retest. No further leakage detected". I did 300 miles in the car yesterday, and no sign of further leakage so, probably, that was the problem. I'm just glad I discovered it (I think) before any damage occurred.
