Mainly while cruising please.
Mine doesn't seem to go above 45 psi now i've had a different oil pressure sendor unit fitted, used to get 50-55 when fully warm.

Thanks

Between 50 and 60 when warm and at cruising speeds. Increases up to around 65 when accelerating. Idles at around 26 when warm, 22/24 when very warm. It's only an indication though....

I'm running 5W40 oil on a 35K engine and get the following readings on my digital dial:

Start up idle 55-60

Warm at 4,000 revs 45

Warm idle 12-15

I'm running on 0/40 Mobile 1 and is reading 45 at 4000 revs and 8 to 10 when idling but always has no matter what oil. Is this too low?

I`m using 0w40 oil and I usual see 50->60psi when cold

At 60c oil it would be around 22psi at idle (750rpm), 70c oil would be 18psi and the lowest I`ve seen is 14psi but its rarely less than 17c (I never let it idle for long, the odd blip of the throttle in traffic..)

personally I always prefer rather more pressure at tickover. With 8 psi will oil actually get to the end of the nearside cam? Also I believe BMW now reccomend castrol 10/60 on the M3 in preference to 0/50,I am told this is to improve wear problems. The min I get at 80c is 28psi on castrol.simonidea

It depends how you use your car as well.

I`m a daily driver so most of my trips are from cold and I need an oil that will protect the engine during those temperatures (aka 0w40)

Fair point,I only use mine on fair days and usually long (longish)trips.

Mine has had an extra oil feed to the back of the engine(exhaust side I think?). Not sure if this will make a difference to the pressure? Hopefully it will just protect the engine better!
