Hi all - I'm a new comer to the world of TVR. Picked up a 2002 Tamora about 2 months ago and am absolutely loving it so far. However, the beast has developed a whining noise which is louder when the engine is fully warmed up and increases in pitch when the revvs increase. Does anyone have any thoughts on what it might be? thanks

assuming it's not coming from your passenger seat smile I would get it looked at, it might be something simply like a belt or pulley or your timing gear/chains may need adjusted. Let us know how you get on.

Mine makes a slight whine, not all the time though! Only thing I can liken the noise to is the gearbox whine in a race car.

Don't think it's anything to worry about but i'll get them to have a look since it's almost service time!

Hi All,

My Tuscan has developed a whine since its return from an engine and gear box out operation. It wasnt there before but I have no idea what is causin it.
I know they adjusted the timing chains so maybe it could be related to that.
I think a phone call is in order today.

Update on the whining noise (the one from under the bonnet, not the passengers seat!)... It only started after I had the tappets adjusted due to the onset of the sewing machine noise. Took it back to where I had the tappets adjusted to get it checked. I thought one of the timing chains might have been too tight but they couldn't diagnose it and told me I shouldn't worry too much about it... Am thinking about getting a second opinion.. would really appreciate it if anyone had any further thoughts!

Hi aus123,
As I mentioned, Ive just had my chains adjusted I didnt have the noise before. I called the workshop but they dont feel that they will have overtightened them. Maybe a second opinion is good for me too.

My car developed a terrible whining noise, I opened the passenger door, let the misses out, and it just stopped!
