Hi all,

Anyone had to convert a USB port to RS232 to get the software connected? I know that Maplins sell an adaptor but just wondered if anyone has had to do this before and come across any other issues with getting connected this way.

We use them in work (as most modern PC's lack serial ports which almost all microcontroller use)

My advice is to never lose the driver CD as they are all pretty much unbranded chinese made. You may need to reboot your PC to get it working (even if it says u don`t..)

Hi

When I used my USB to serial connecter it defaulted to com4. The software expects either com1 or com2 if I remember correctly. You'll need to change it in control panel..

Thanks Phil, I thought I might have to fiddle with the ports alright. I've noticed that closing the software causes my XP to logoff - need to see what's happening there too but hopefully will sort it once I get the adaptor,

Cheers

Hi Andy

I wouldn't spend too long trying to find out why, when you exit the software, it logs you off XP. I think "that's what is does".

I've set the S/W up (with USB - serial cable) for the local TVR indy as he was a bit short of PC experience. It did this on all his PC's. It's a bit annoying but something you can easily live with once you know that's how it works.biglaughbiglaughbiglaugh

Hold down the Ctrl + A keys when you exit the programme this stops the XP log off issue.

Ok, picked up an adaptor from Maplins. Installed the driver and got connected, minor problem with port settings but sorted pretty quickly.

However, I am only getting 2 screens up once connected - the real-time graphic display of all the inputs with the key and description down the right-hand side, and the "front-screen" that comes up saying no default map is loaded (or something like that). I did get an error about a file being missing when it started the connection so I have renamed one of the files within the software's installation folder as per the advice on Dave Hinn's website - yet to see if that makes a difference to the available windows.

Looks like I am missing the engine monitor, faults and throttle pot screens. Anyone know if these will come back now that I have renamed that file? I'll check it tomorrow anyway, just curious if anyone knows.

Cheers

You have the later ECU mapping which needs a file name to be changed on the tvr software to make it work correctly.

I have the details at home ... I'll post again and let you know what file needs to be renamed

Hi Andy,

Yes, you are right - I renamed the file and it worked fine after that,

Hey lads,

You can get the software and user manual from here: http://www.mytuscan.co.uk/downloads.php

Not sure where the connection is on the 350 though I'm afraid!

My car (04 T350) has an OBD II type connector, will any generic OBD II to serial/usb cable work??

Hi Sam

The ODB II connector is wired differently for the Tamora not sure for the T350. I'm in the process of making some cables up.
