Just dropped my '01 Tuscan S off with Dom at TVR power. The car has done 33k without a rebuild and it hasn't gone bang, still pulls hard and runs smoothly.

She was just drinking oil at a fearsome rate. 1 ltr per 200 miles. Damn those valve guides!

Anyway, looking forward to her coming back already!

Will do. I'll be getting detailed reports through from Dom as they strip it down. So far the only obvious thing wrong with it is worn valve guides, which is no suprise as they're the original "soft" phosphor bronze type.

DVS Dave,

Did you notice any decline in oil pressure or just constantly topping up the oil? I'm at 35K with no rebuild and everything seems OK, including oil consumption.

Oil pressure was always good. I ran 10w40 in it. The only telltale was the high oil consumption and blue smoke on a hot start.
