Browsing this thread...
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
which summarises the sp6 issues.

So, my question is what have TVR Power done to try and resolve these issues? I have followed the sp6 threads for a while, not seen this answered, but my apologies if i have missed an important thread please direct me, otherwise...

Have they uprated the follower material?
Have they improved the oil feed to the head / valvetrain gear during running / start-up?
Has the oil feed to the crank bearing been improved?

I guess if you're really interested, you could ask them.

What I've been told is the bearings have been re-designed along with finger followers/cams. And with a two year unlimited warranty it must be good. I understand that when the 4.2 upgrade comes out it will have a three year warranty.

My car is in for a rebuild with TVR Power at the moment. Dom said that the engine is basically upgraded to the same spec as the Le Mans S6 engines (bar cam timing and mapping of course).

Sounds good to me!

It all sounds like TVR Power have gone to great length to solve the issues. I really hope they have, it will certainly make me think twice about my next car....

The proof will be in the mileages achieved i suppose....

DVS Dave , Le mans spec would mean farndon steel crank and rods , cross-bolted ( amoungst other things ) block , properly ported head with additional cooling mods just for starters .Are you really get all that ? Would be very expensive !

dont know exactly about the cooling mods.the crossbolted block is to put extra strength in to the bottom of the engine in particular the main caps

I think he was referring mainly to the top end although a steel crank etc is an option. The oil pump is also replaced, although to what spec I don't know.

I think there are some cooling and oil way mods made as a different head gasket is used with larger cut-outs etc.

hehe I always think back to a chat with Peter Wheeler at Le Mans with the first De-Walt cars whenever anyone mentions this.

I said it was a shame that the ACO had penalised them so badly with restrictors as the cars still had pretty impressive lap times in spite of this...

PW "Not really, if anything I think it helps avoid the bloody engines blowing up" - meanwhile Ben Samuelson - who overheard the conversation - just cringed.
