Can someone please explain to me how the oil pump works on the SP6? I’m new to dry sumps and was wondering how it all works? Does it run off the timing chain somehow or am I missing something?? How many stage’s does the pump have? What’s the capacity of the oil tank?

Thanks in advance.

Ok I've found out! teacher

The oil pump does run off the timing chain and has a 6 litre oil capacity but I'm not sure how many stages it has.

Does anyone still read the Speed 6 forum? It seems a bit quiet compared to the other TVR forums here.....................

I'm still reading, speed 6 seems to regarded as poor mans kit and not worthy of reply sometimes, If you ask in other forums, they direct you here, If you post in 2 forums the moderator deletes 1 of them, usally the one in the more busier forum leaving you out here in the wilderness, with little or no response.

Hi mate,

not too sure exactly what your after but the general idea behind the dry sump is that a scavenger pump collects from the Sump and feeds the oil to a smaller reservoir where the main pump pressurises the system, basically to avoid a loss in oil pressure when corenering hard etc if the oil moves in the sump.
I don't know anymore than that for the sp6 engine but my guess is that it would be chain driven from any component that will increase with rpm eg cam, crank etc etc.

Hope that helps and i know what you mean about this forum and getting help - its quiet to say the least!
