Hi guys,

Last month (july 07) i became the new owner of a 2001 Tuscan with engine fault, on complete stripdown found to have spun the bearing on cylinder 1 conrod and had also stretched big end almost 5mm out of round, causing piston to hit cylinder head and caused cracking to crown. I am currently sourcing all nessesary parts for a full rebuild, anybody interested in following my rebuild (pictures available) and any modifications i make?

wavey and a big welcome to the forum.

Bring it on, are you going to be doing the rebuild yourself?

Hi Paul.22

On my rebuild i intend to modify big end bearings and main bearing shells to help oil flow and maybe modify cylinder head cam bearings also, what was the cause of your engine failure? Here are 4 pictures from stripdown, showing how close the engine came to total failure....

my car was overheating problems
it dropped 2 liners
it was built with new pistons rings bearings and liners
i had the cylinder head ported and polished
the valve guides spiral honed i used all standard stuff
if i was to build my engine again and my pocket was deep aenough
i would contact doug kiddy for a billet crank to be made
acl racing division for the bearings
omega for the pistons and rings
arrow for a set of rods
i looked into all this and i was closeing in around 10000 pound for all the parts to be made scratch this would make your bottom end bullet proof
standard stuff should be fine it all boils down to making sure every last little measurement is made and your engine built to the closest tolerance's possible
