I doubt you'll get a straight answer to that one as it will inevitably involve disputes over rolling road figures. However, the most powerful SP6 I've heard of is the 4.2 in Pauls (of Austec) Tamora. Powerwise he told me its around the 430 BHP. You don't want to know what the cost would be for this conversion.dan

I've got the fastest one until anyone proves otherwise.....
Great performance last Sunday Nelly1 and also by Bigblockmark. I think and hope some of the SP6 critics would have been silenced. If you and Bigblockmark are at the next one, I'd love to have a crack at you "S" Tuscaneers !.I think the quest for too much power may be ultimately self-defeating.
Last Sunday we beat more powerful Cerbs (with much more torque) simply because they couldn't put their power down cleanly.
They made up for it in the mid and top-end, in many cases posting higher terminal speeds - and if the track was a mile rather than 3/4 it may have been a different story.
I think the torque characteristics of the Sp6 suit the light weight of our cars perfectly - off the line they just dig in and GO......
Maybe a bit more top end power wouldn't go amiss, just not too much to make the car undriveable!

Spot on. It would have been interesting to see what might have happened over the mile. I was holding on to 4th gear over the line at 155 and my 5th gear is hardly gutless so it may have been very close. Hollowpockets 4.0 litre RR will be interesting to see. I was truly amazed at how fast the SP6 engine cars were, particularly I suspect over 1/4 and 1/2 mile distances.Last Sunday we beat more powerful Cerbs (with much more torque) simply because they couldn't put their power down cleanly.

Talked to Paul about this recently and I think he said about 8k - 10k in total, indeed giving about 420 bhp/350 lbs for a 4.2.
What's the status on a turbo charged version? Any around?
If it really is £8-£10k then if I ever need a rebuild that looks to be not bad value. What's the status on a turbo charged version? Any around?
