HI
this is the first time i posted on pistonheads.
I bought my tamora nearly a year ago and have had nothing but cooling system problems
i have had two head gaskets and 1 full rebuild each time the engine failed.
When the head gasket went on my way back from whales for the third time
i deciced to remove and strip the engine my self (i have my own garage )
i found the cylinder head had worn valve guides,5thou of run out towards the rear of the cylinder head (4,5,6 cylinders) Garath at drive stlye sourced me a cylinder head from power.
he also supplied head gasket, thermostat and water pump.
i took the cylinder head to amac engineering and had the cylinder head skimmed, ported and polished and the valve guides spiral honed.
i started to rebuild the engine and during the process i wrapped the exhaust manifold in dei thermal wrap, fit decat pipes and wrapped the decat pipes and center pipes on the exhaust to reduce under bonnet and body temperatures.
After the installation i had the throttle bodys and adaptive maps reset.
i have chenged the oil to 15w60 millers motorsport and run the car on v-power
for 250 miles.
on sat i took the car for a power run at motoscope on their new dastek 4wheel dyno
i was amazed with the results i acheived the car pulled
403.8 bhp @ 7145rpm
306.9 lbft @ 6466rpm
the improvemnts are amazing
the car produces 237lbft from 2000rpm
As the super bikes have been on today at croft i have spent most of the afternoon playing with motorbikes before leaving them for dust lol

Alistar is an excellent choice for the re-build. Huge experience in all kinds of engines - road and race.

Can you advise how you did/where you got the thermal wrap.

Cyls 4,5 ,6 guides worn! did you do any oilway mods?

All the best

Pleased for yer bloke. Well done. Now don't mean to piss on yer fireworks but 'playing with bikes before leaving them for dust'? Don't think so. I'm BIG TVR fan but no way are you gonna leave a bike for dust. Unless he wasn't up for it, or he was playing with you.
as prophet 'ALI G' sez, 'keep it real'.

No need to shout bloke.
PS Never seen myself as a power ranger, still, I'll be whatever you want. Oh, and if some numpty passed me on the inside,,,,, I'd back off too. Wouldn't wanna get tangled in that.
Anyway, IF your figures are right, good on yer, and if your enjoying yourself, good again. But you WILL be passed by a bike.

I'll try and draw a line under this shall I?. Err, you brought the bike thing onto the S6 forum, not me. As for dressing like a gimp? Well, with people coming up the inside, think I'll dress with survival in mind. If you had fun, good on yer, really. But lets not get carried away eh, and don't think it warrants slating what bikers wear, if they rode around in shorts and flip-flops then yeh, they would be a gimp. Full leathers? makes sense to me.

Let me introduce some balance. The chap did not say he dusted top flight superbikes, he said motor bikes. They come in all shapes and sizes. Some a 400BHP S6 engined TVR will destroy, some they will be an equal match and some will dissapear into the distance at a rate of knots.yes

Depends on driver/rider combination also.

eg...I spent Sunday at the Nurburgring in my Audi Avant, some bikes were an absolute pain getting in the way, others passed me without a problem. wink

John, almost bang on. Just trying to keep things in perspective without resorting to insult.
[now where is that full length mirror?]
