as far as i'm concerned it does improve power, to what degree i don't know.
a cat is a honeycombed structure, although quite free flowing will cause some sort of restriction in the same way a sharp bend in the pipe or a non straight though silencer would.

Yes, but because you've reduced the pressure drop between the exhaust exhaust manifold and the tailpipe the engine ECU may need to be recalibrated to different settings. I had a "sports" exhaust fitted to my T350 and it sounded really impressive but I felt that the acceleration was not as good. Later I had the standard exhaust refitted and,no doubt about it, there was an immediate improvement in the acceleration. I could also hear the engine again and under hard acceleration this was a noise which I preferred. After all I suppose that you get the least resistance to air flow with no exhaust and we all know what that does to performance!

Hi , ive not long got mine back after a de-cat and tvr power chip, overall the performance has been increased, it is VERY loud with the ccc cans on, also looks cool (i'm told) with the flames on the overun.

Have a gander at this. Apparently more power AND torque! Yippee. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

As the majority of Speed 6 cats will be half burnt out anyway, you are likely to see a slight power increase when fitting decats.

You save your cats for MOT time, you save you engine as bits of burnt cat don't get sucked into the engine and you get the NOISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was looking into this the other week PDQ do them in the size to suit the Tuscan S larger bore exhaust.

After careful check of alternatives, I've just ordered a high-quality set from PDQ after John Quick (ex-factory fabrication designer) convinced me that they are the optimum design for max/smooth gas flow for the S6 at all rpm as designed by John and dyno-tested on the TVR dyno, and TVR's road test cars. smile

did he say anything about power and torque? IMHO it will be increased by maybe 3%. Which is worth it!

Yes were increased, I did ask - but by exactly how much was not recorded. The scenario was as you'd expect ;

'yes that's the one'.

John said a set was then fitted to the Tuscan that outwitted the speed camera on Top Gear - they got over 180 on another occasion hehe
