Intermittent ticking sound

I'm getting a ticking sound from the engine every few seconds. But this only happens when I'm accelerating hard and the engine is spinning above 6000. Does this sound like pre-ignition?

Any ideas?

Yes. But it could be something else :-) Get it checked.

On mine it does it if the throttle potentiometers need tweaking. My understanding is that, electronically speaking, this engine runs as two 3 cylinder cars and the two 'engines' can get out of sync which causes different types of rough running as well.

Hum - I used to get that but I thought perhaps it was caused by the notoriously poor seal on the airbox, and the noise was in fact air rushing through it. Could be wrong. J
