RE: Speed 6 strength
Friday 27th April 2007
TVR Power will now be giving a Two-year unlimited mileage warranty on all Speed 6 engine rebuilds carried out at their Bedworth Road workshops. “We are now completely happy with the reliability of our Speed 6 engine rebuilds”, said a spokesperson, “and as long as the engine is subsequently serviced at a TVR main dealer or a TVR Power authorised independent service centre then we are happy to give a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty”.
Speed 6 strength
2 year warranty for TVR Power rebuilds
As well as the 2 year Speed 6 rebuild warranty, Power are also offering a full 12 month warranty on all OEM Speed 6 parts purchased from them. For further information call TVR Power on 024 7636 6177 or email them on dom@tvrpower.co.uk
Discussion
The key here is unlimited mileage. That's a very powerful statement in the Speed 6 world. This is great news and will eliminate people getting paranoid about having to stump up for a rebuild every 30k miles. None of the other rebuilds out there are anywhere near this mileage so durabliity is still unproven and none of them yet offer anywhere near that level of warranty. Why? Because they're not confident enough themselves in their own work. Says a lot.
It'll also make the car a hell of a lot more attractive should you come to sell it on during the warranty period.

Until then I can't see much value as I would expect any engine rebuild to last at least two years or I would be visiting my friendly lawyer.
How many companies do you know that make engine rebuilds for high performance cars with longer warranties than this, and unltd mileage?
FFS, someone finally has the conviction to put a decent warranty behind the much-lambasted Speed 6 engine, which should help encourage people to buy Sp6 engined cars, but within a couple of posts of the thread opening someone is already denigrating it!!!
I wonder if they will honour retrospectively, i.e. extend existing 1 year warranties or extend cars that fall in the 1 to 2 year rebuild bracket? The latter of which mine falls into, and is heading Coventry bound quite soon
That's not to say I am questioning previous works, just need some financial relief.
Maybe Dom will lend me his Sagaris as a softener to the bill..

I wonder why people start at potentieally brilliant things before they have information ...
OK we do not know how much (unless they match their current quotes)
We do not know about parts supply or timing of rebuilds
BUT
we have a smallish local company trying to give our brand top service and things we should have expected from TVR itself and help us get / regain confidence in our engines for the time to come
to DOM and his fold
Hasten to add hope I won't need to rely on his service too soon....knocking on my wooden desk

The important thing is.
It does say UNLIMITED mileage.
and 2 years....
Who's going to be the first to do a 100k miles
Prices of course matter, but as the cars are so cheap (relatively - for performance) soon to be classic. ie no new ones. It is tempting.
IT IS of course such a pity, that TVR coudn't/ didn't do 12 - 18 months ago. It was ALL that was really needed, to support the used market, which of course supports the new/nearly new car prices.
IF only TVR had done this.

Was just down at Power today chatting to Dom about this. You're talking about £5k.
They're putting their money where their mouth is on this one and underwriting it themselves, rather than passing the buck to some insurance company. So, if/when the T350 has "issues", they'll be getting a cheque from me, that's for sure.
Top news, Dom.
Now, less hours on press releases and more hours on servicing my car, if you don't mind ...

This has got to be good news for present and prospective buyers, well done guys. Now,who's going to be next
Autocraft have been offering an extendible 12 month warranty on their S6 repairs since they started doing the engines.
With TVR Power coming out with this, it is indeed superb news and should help support the resale of the S6 cars and hopefully keep the interest in them alive, well done Dom I take my hat off to you....
