Has anyone else bought one of the new ACT carbon fibre airboxes yet ? I am tempted as my bonus has just been paid and my car flew throught the 12 K service, but I would like to hear some views first if i can .

Cheers,
Martyn

Been in today and it looks awesome!

Richard - what are the expected "gains" from fitting such a unit?

Can you let me know what your impressions are when you finally get to drive it.

Thanks

We will be running one back to back with a standard airbox to see the gains as soon as I can arrange it, but we are expecting to see an improvement as time was spent on the design stage to facilitate smoother airflow, greater volume etc. The proof as they say will be in the pudding.

There's a small photo on ACTs website www.actproducts.co.uk.

Looks wise, it's pretty much the same as the original!

It's very different inside believe me. Carbonfibre trumpets and all. The outside shape was dictated by what would fit and the fact that it has to apply to all Sp6 engined cars, hence similar external design approach.

I have a photo of the inside if someone wants to post it. Have'nt worked that bit out yet!

Does it sound any different? The CF airboxes fitted to M3's sound awsome ears

The garage have been using it to check for leaks (as all the hoses have been upgraded ) and one of the bosses says it definitely picks up better (so not definitive). Will post some avi files when it's back with me.
