I normally do a partial oil change every other month using an oil pump, I can manage about 1.5 litres before the oil drains from the sump, are there any other tubes/pipes I can stick it down (the tube is the width of a straw and is very flexible) to access the oil reservoir?

Cheers

Don't think so, and would think that -1.5 litres from the dry sump tank would be enough to meet your aim.

Surprised you feel that it's necessary though; unless every trip's slow in traffic or on a track, all decent modern oils are designed to cope with 6,000m use between changes scratchchin

You're probably right, but there's nothing like having had a rebuild to make you paranoid hehe

But how much is changed and how much remains unchanged...

I assume (hope?!) that at a service an experienced mechanic will drain the shallow pan under the engine as well as the tank

Ah yes, not everyone does drain the engine sump, let alone extract its contents - you should always ask if this is being done (and you'll have to pay for more oil if they do it!).

I can certainly see why you might want to change oil more regularly on this engine. Lubrication is not its forte. Not only that but Speed Sixes run very rich so the amount of fuel/ oil contamination can be very high depending on useage/ driving style/ operating conditions.
