I have a 4.0 Tuscan with a recent rebuild and Im wondering about putting a oil protective addative such as ZX1 or another engine oil treatment and just wondering if anyone else has done this or does not recommend doing it? Im only considering it because the additive protects the metal surfaces in the engine more with the engine is cold on start up. I have used ZX1 in a previous Turbo car with no ill effects and start up VVT rattle was reduced and oil consumption went down too.

any thoughts?

My advice after running in is use good quality oil changed regularly and don't mess with it.

Dont do it.

If these things were that good oil companies would use them.

Change the oil regularly and you get the best protection.

Huge thread here all about oil with some techie experts telling you what's what!! Not a mention of additives anywhere.

General summary is..... Fully Synthetic, 5W-40 or 10W-40 with esters (whatever they are). They stick to the engine and provide all the protection you need, so long as you have enough in!!!
