I see Craft have updated their website and now include a list of issues to consider/discuss. I Think this should help folk to ask the right questions when ringing around for rebuild advise and who does what work and what you are getting for your money. It should also help folk budget what level of work will best fit their wallet as prices are also there.

Good post - at last some transparency about rebuild costs and what you get for your money.

This should certainly help all those who have rebuild questions, wish it had been readily available when I had mine.

Not sure you two view things through the eyes of independants. For sure the site is updated, that its clear - I don't agree.

Still looks very expensive but at least they have the balls to advertise.

Agreed. A "beware imitations" type banner would be better while still putting a seed of doubt in peoples minds about the competition.

Maybe so, but you can still sense the anger and frustration there. maybe it'll be taken off soon, but Craft obviously thought it important enough to put up there in the first place .. in effect it reinforces that the Craft Way is the Right Way

Surprised at that comment John, it's more transparent than any others website whom offer similar works. As for expensive, depends on your perspective of what expensive is.....verses the cost of a cars purchase price, new or second hand?!? Consider for one minute what we get paid in our line of work for the hours we do.....and now equate that to the figures quoted here and the amount of work that goes into rebuilding one of these engines......Do you really think we are worth our hourly rate....in what is a very inflated industry driven by greed for control of power...!

Actually I think if you were to ring around the others and compare component/rebuild costs for the same spec rebuild... (aha there lies the crunch factor they are not the same spec are they....?) there's a number of additional goodies in this package that others are either unaware of or do not yet offer.

I would have thought that you would have learned more after having spoken with Dave regarding the SC conversion. Now when you consider the cost of that against the cost of the Ghostly Typhoon at 120K.....for around 1/2 the price you can have a Craft equivalent..... I know.

Having the balls is one virtue, honesty and upfront is another, combined they are admirable.

Just my humble opinion.

G

Agreed. Sadly, the trend for people in this industry to rubbish each other seems to be almost universal, and I think it does them no credit at all. A far better way imo to handle that would be to say it was so good our competitors have tried to copy it - but come to us for the real deal. Or not mention it at all, which imo would be the better approach. They've gone out of their way to publish what they do so hardly surprising that other people are using that information and no grounds for this sort of bitchiness.

Graham,
Lets agree to disagree - you are happy with what you have, I still think Craft are expensive.

Cheers

This bit: Some of the above modifications have been copied by another company. No matter what they say they copied our valves and used our knowledge to make the valve springs and other parts. They know who they are...

Seems very childish to me. So what if another company copied it. If it is illegal then stop them, if it isn't then deal with it and grow up.

Maybe the auther went to one of those liberal schools where competition was banned as being bad for little Jonny and so the real world has come as a bit of a shock.

That single paragraph would put you off going to these people. Silly as I'm sure they know exactly what they are doing and are good at what they do.

If they had an ounce of sense they would remove that and replace it with a serious paragraph that explained how they developed all of this and that even if it were copied there would be risks of taking such a short cut etc etc.

Or, even better just let the results speak for themselves if the product is any good.

Whitey, why indulge Autocraft by joining in with their playground politics? I agree with the view that their work will speak for itself if it is any good. Nothing other than the quality of their work merits discussion.

Steve.
